Abstract: According to “Japanese Economic News” August 22 reported that Nippon Paper will be built in Japan’s Shimane Prefecture “cellulose nanofibers (CNF)” mass production factories. Cellulose nanofiber plant as raw material, is regarded as a “post-carbon era” new material. Scheduled in September 2017 and put into production, it is envisaged to obtain food and cosmetics manufacturers demand. Cellulose nanofibers are lightweight, high strength, and having a viscosity after mixing, versatile. Nippon Paper strive by providing production equipment as soon as possible the first step in the new markets.
Nippon Paper will build a new plant at the main base of its chemical business Jiangjin sites (Jiangjin city). Investment is expected to more than one billion yen. Will build the initial annual output of 30 tons, the future can be increased to 100 tons of the plant.
Cellulose nanofibers will sell as an additive in food and cosmetics. Its characteristics are compared with conventional additives, viscosity less affected by the heat, while having a refreshing smooth touch.
In line with production, it will be established to reduce the moisture contained in the solid technology, and the introduction of related equipment. Then reduce moisture will help reduce transportation costs.
Carbon fiber has a high strength and light weight characteristics, but oil as raw material, the risk of resource depletion. Plant-based cellulose nanofibers there is no such risk.
And strive to establish cellulose nanofibers business enterprises will be sights on the field of cosmetics. Nippon Paper will become Japan’s first domestic set up specially for the food and cosmetics cellulose nanofiber production equipment. We hope to establish an early production system to get food, cosmetics manufacturers demand. The use of light weight high strength characteristics, and strive in the future for automotive components.
Paper industry in Japan rise of electronic media and other factors affected business shrink, in this context, paper companies began to explore new revenue sources.
